NO MOTHER SHOULD HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN BEING CHILDLESS OR RISK DYING FROM GIVING BIRTH
Without health, we as human beings have nothing. Without health, it would be difficult to have a decent quality of life.
In America, Black maternal health is among the highest in the developed world. Racism, discrimination and unconscious bias contribute to a lack of quality, equitable health care and also a lack of patient trust in the health care system. In developing countries like Sierra Leone,
More than 4.5 million children worldwide die needlessly each year from preventable, treatable illnesses including malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia, neonatal infection, pre-term delivery, or lack of oxygen at birth.
The tragedy is that treatments and solutions to prevent these deaths exist but it is a challenge to reach every mother, infant, and child that need support.
Babyphoria is dedicated to supporting mothers and infants at the grassroots level to ensure no woman or infant is left behind. Strengthening access to quality basic health care services among severely impoverished populations is a fundamental priority for Babyphoria.
Barriers to reduce maternal and child mortality includes poverty, lack of family and social support as well as cultural beliefs. The work of Babyphoria is to provide interventions to address these barriers so that mothers can provide the very best care to their children.
EVERY DAY, APPROXIMATELY 830 WOMEN DIE FROM PREVENTABLE CAUSES RELATED TO PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH.
Studies have shown that a more diverse healthcare workforce and the use of doulas may improve birth outcomes.
